Playing Assignments

Band Playing Assignments are an important part of the CMS/DIS Band curriculum. Band Playing Assignments are required and are counted towards the six weeks grade. Most Playing Assignments are SmartMusic assignments that can be completed at home. If a student does not have SmartMusic at home, then they may sign-up for a time to use the student computer in the Band Hall.  Please encourage your band child to complete their assignments as early as possible so that if technical difficulties arise, there is adequate time to make arrangements to complete the assignments at school using the student computer in the Band Hall. SmartMusic assignments are emailed to the email address associated with each SmartMusic account. If you would like to change which email address SmartMusic sends notifications to, please login to your child’s SmartMusic account and update the email address on file. The late work policy for each campus (CMS & DIS) will be in effect for all Playing Assignments.

Late Work Policy for DIS is: 1 school day late is 15 points off the grade. 2 school days late is 50 points off the grade. More than 2 days late is a Zero in the gradebook.

Late Work Policy for CMS is: 1 school day late is 30 points off the grade. 2 school days late is 50 points off the grade. More than 2 days late is a Zero in the gradebook.

Grading Policy for Wind Ensemble SmartMusic assignments:

60+ minutes = 100
45-59 minutes = 90
30-44 minutes = 80
15-29 minutes = 70
5-14 minutes = 60
1-4 minutes = 50
